Rev. Adam Snook, Pastor
Born and raised on the South Shore, Pastor Adam was ordained in 2011, and accepted a call to serve the congregation of St. John’s in 2014. His call was broadened in 2016 to include a shared ministry between St. John’s, Mahone Bay and Mt. Calvary, Upper Northfield. He co-edited the book, Living Justice: A Gospel Response to Poverty; and has penned several articles on social and ecological justice. Pastor Adam is keenly interested in storytelling, and the way our geography shapes the way we share our faith story. He is passionate about community building, ecumenism, and the use of the arts in worship. Along with his wife, Holly and son, Nathaniel he lives surrounded by a small apple orchard in Rhodes Corner, NS.
Rebecca Rock, Music Director
Rebecca Rock received her Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario. She has taught since 1979 in Halifax and Lunenburg Counties and currently teaches elementary Music and French at Bayview Community School in Mahone Bay. She is a member of the Thursday night Hand Bell group at St. John’s and is the accompanist for the Mother and Daughter Choir. Rebecca is the mother of four adult children: Jonathan, Joshua, Ruth and Rachael. Her favourite pastimes are swimming and playing the piano.
Gale Lohnes, Handbell Director
Gale Lohnes received her Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Education degrees from Acadia University. She has over 29 years of experience at the Middle School and High School level in Halifax and Lunenburg Counties teaching classroom and instrumental music as well as Math, Health and Social Studies. She has directed community ensembles such as the Bridgewater Fire Department Band, South Shore Concert Orchestra and St. John’s Junior Choir. Along with directing the Thursday Night Hand Bell group, she currently is a member of Chester Brass Band, the choir at St. John’s Lutheran Church and teaches at Bayview Community School in Mahone Bay.
Judy Bonnell, Administrative Assistant
Judy Bonnell is a resident of Martin’s River and has been faithfully serving the congregation of St. John’s for over 20 years.
